Mobile App Case Study
Everyone can appreciate the benefits of massage therapy such as relieving stress, reducing muscle pain, and deep relaxation, but only a select few can afford it on a regular basis. Jordan Gushurst, a technology entrepreneur in Philadelphia, saw an opportunity for an on-demand, shareable economy solution: to launch a Massage Chair Service to give university students easy, affordable access to massage on a weekly basis
We created the On Campus Massage app including:
- Design and launching the iPhone and Android apps on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
- Key features: Sign up for two free massages, book and “check in” to a massage session, and upgrade to a paid plan with Stripe ecommerce.
- We integrated the mobile apps, server, and WIFI-based power so the massage chair would turn on and off at the start and end of each session. (No attendant required)
- We took a phased approach to development and commercial testing, including a beta program with two top-of-the-line massage chairs at West Chester University in Pennsylvania.
“GrowthClick was an exceptional developer and business partner and I would highly recommend you consider partnering with them on your project. Working with a modest budget we were able to implement all the essential functionality (MVP) in a phased, low-risk approach that met all project deadlines.
I started with a detailed set of business requirements but a blank sheet of paper on a variety of technical designs. Tom was able to quickly analyze my requirements and propose an architecture that was high performance and cross platform (iOS, Android + Amazon Web Services for the application server and database.)
Tom facilitated my decision making process in a variety of ways (both business and technical) and frequently took the initiative to offer links and suggestions to best practices that had been implemented by other companies. He provided short video previews regularly and used modern project management tools.
Looking back, one of the best parts of the project was just having fun and joking around. I think it is essential to like the people you work with and Tom is just a lot of fun!”
